Análisis de las Posesiones |
Editado: 01/05/03 |
Extra Analysis Tools

These tools would not be intended to give away too
much information and thus dumb down the game; rather they would be intended to make up for
the fact that a real-team has a full-time staff of dozens while a DEL team has one person
(sometimes two) putting in on average an hour a week. |
Some possibilities might include:
1. More information in the "scouting notes" at the end of a box score. If more
data, what would you want to see? Also, would summaries and notes (i.e. "this team
seems to have stopped the run very well when expecting the run") be useful? Perhaps
put the scouting notes on a separate web page altogether (linked from and to box scores)?
2. More information on specific players. Some have suggested tracking player ability
levels with their stat histories. This could be done, though not retroactively. It might
also be nice to see "guesstimates" of future ability levels for scouting
purposes, although the randomness inherent in player development as well as the lack of
specific information would make any long-term estimate hugely uncertain. Still it might be
nice to see. Finally, not just a player's grade at one position, but perhaps a few
suggested positions he could play well?
3. Coaching tips for your team and matchup tips for specific opponents. Based on your
players, what sort of strategies might work? What opposing players should you worry about?
Given past games for your opponent, are there any obvious simple adjustments you could
make? This last bit wouldn't have to be overly detailed, as you should be expected to at
least look at the scouting summaries in the box scores.
4. More ability sorts built into the player sorting tools that would do default sorts
based on the importance of various skills at each position. 5. Some sort of info on
college prospects (for pro coaches) that would indicate the sort of teammates and
opponents they had, and what sort of system was used. For example, an average tailback
prospect might win the Heisman given superb blocking, a good enough passing attack to keep
the defense honest, and a system where he got nearly every carry. Having at least some
clue of these variables might make college players' stats at least somewhat useable.
Comments? Other info you'd like to see?
Again, the overall goal is to provide the coach with the sort of information that a
real-life team's slew of scouts and assistant coaches would provide.
