Five-Star Basketball Drills

This book is a classic. We can not believe that there are not more reviews giving this book the praise it deserves. If you want to become better at Basketball you must not only practice consistently, but you must know the correct techniques and moves to practice. This book is basically a complete reference of drills for every position that have been used at the nations premier Basketball camp - five star. When Trajon Langdon started out as a freshman at duke this book received a lot of attention because Trajon, being from Alaska, did not have great exposure to a wide variety of Basketball camps. Trajon bought this book and used the drills in it to make him the player he became. Every high school player and coach should own a copy of this book if they are serious about improvement.

Lenny Wilkens Legacy Basketball Clinic Series

The Basics

Basketball legend Lenny Wilkens, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach, is the engaging and expert host of this pair of instructional videos. Each tape, one focusing on skills of offense and one on skills of defense, follows a no-nonsense format: a friend of Wilkens, NBA coach Dick Helm, presents a brief lesson on a particular skill (such as specific nuances of dribbling or passing), and young athletes are shown performing the skill the way it should be done. Then it's time for Wilkens to use his "chalkboard." The videotaped action is frozen while Wilkens draws on the screen with a "telestrator," literally highlighting particular points that require special attention. The coaches present a comprehensive set of skills, including ball handling, passing, and shooting on the offense tape, and pointers on stance, pressuring the ball, particular defensive maneuvers, and defensive rebounding on the defense tape. The camera work is professional throughout, and a booklet that accompanies the tapes serves as both a table of contents for the tapes and a workbook, as it contains pointers on the skills covered in the video presentations. This is an excellent set of instructional tapes and would benefit any players who seriously want to improve their game.

The 22 shooting drills are especially valuable and many of them have been used by teams at all levels. The video concludes with four sample practices along with ten coaching tips. The video is fast paced and each drill starts with a picture of a Basketball court with the placement of where the players should line up.
