Coach K takes you through his defense principles by breaking down the half court defense.
Teaching Points are used to show important points that come up during the drills. The drills start out 1 on 1 and work up to 5 on 5. If you want to play strong denial defense then this DVD is for you. Coach K will teach you the entire help side defense necessary to play a strong denial defense.
You’ll get great man to man defense drills that Coach K uses in his practices. Coach K does a lot of teaching on the drills as well. He just doesn’t show the drills but breaks down the how and why.
Coach K shows the improvements he has made in his man to man defense in how to defend the wing on the ball side. When guarding the ball, his players use a non-traditional stance that will make them as big as possible so the offensive player has less room to the hoop.
Video 3: Transition Game
Duke’s emphasis on beating their opponent in switching from defense to offense and from offense to defense has become a hallmark of their success. Very rarely do they give up an easy fast-break basket, yet they score many breakaway buckets themselves. The Transition Game segment shows that this advantage is developed on the practice court by design, drills, and desire; and it describes how you can achieve this advantage for yourself or your team.

2 Man Drills - Value the ball, develop the instinct to pass ahead on the break.
3 Man Drills – Learn to flatten out defense and utilize the secondary break.
4- Man Drills – help teach change of speed necessary to convert from a fastbreak situation into motion offense.
5 Man Drills – Spacing and communication are the key factors with 5 man drills.
The transition offense drills do a great job of simulating game situations on the break. Coach K wants the drills to be as game-like as possible.
5 on 5 Random Movement with Change is a terrific drill for those practices that are dragging or when your practice needs some energy.
