Flagrant Foul.
Unnecessary and/or excessive contact committed with excessive force or
ill intent against an opponent. The fouled
player is awarded two free throws,
the offended team then inbounds the
ball, and the offending player may be
ejected.
Flare.
Move or slide from the point or guard spot to the wing.
Flash.
Cut
from the
weakside to the strong side post.
Flip Pass.
The pass is used
for close passing and in pivoting offense. The wrist is used to flip
the ball to a player cutting by. The flip pass is a
short pass used primarily in the "give-and-go" offense and is seldom intercepted or fumbled due the
fact that the ball is protected and shielded from the defensive man.
Floor.
1. The playing area of the court within the end lines and sidelines.
2. The surface of the court.
Floor Percentage.
The percentage of a team's possessions that end in scoring possessions.
Floor Violation.
A player's action that violates the rules but does not prevent an opponent's
movement or causes him harm; penalized by a change in possession.
