Points Off Turnovers |
|
Basketball games aren't won or lost simply according to the number of
points a team makes or receives, rebounds taken or permitted, or even time of possession.
Though those statistics can have a very real impact on the outcome of a contest, they are
not the ultimate determinants of the result. The final score takes care of that matter.
And no matter how unevenly balanced the official stats may appear, one figure that isn't
even reported in an official box score can have the decisive effect of making all the
other numbers meaningless. That figure is turnover points. When
committed by the
offense in large numbers. or on the third quarter of the court, or just at inopportune
times, they can cost a team the game no matter what the rest of the box score says. |
