One Hand Baseball or Javelin Pass

From the Global Basketball Directory:
"A two-handed pass thrown by a player to a teammate from chest level. The two-handed chest pass is a very common pass in the game. It is called this because its starts as the ball is propelled from the chest or upper trunk area. It is not called chest pass because it goes to the chest of the receiver, this is an outmoded concept in these days of close individual defense. The pass is most used to move the ball easily up the floor or when the ball is passed around the perimeter of the defensive alignment."

Undoubtedly a basic pass of Basketball and one that should be the beginner's main method of moving the ball about the court .
The ball is held in front of the body at chest height with the arms partially bent and the elbows fairly low. The hands are placed on the sides of the ball, slightly to the rear, and it is controlled by the finger and thumbs which are well spread to cover as much of the surface as possible.
The pass is made by extending the arms and snapping the wrists to push the ball towards the target. The snap of the wrists is the secret of a good chest pass and it helps if beginners concentrate on turning the palms outwards (so that the thumbs are pointing downwards) as the ball is released.
