Penalty Situation.
When a team has committed more than its allowed four fouls per quarter and thus each

Penetration.
Dribble
through the defense, into the defensive perimeter in an

Penetration is intended to create either shot or a pass

Period.
Any quarter, half or overtime segment of a Basketball game. A NBA game consists of four 12-minute periods, or quarters. A college game is made up of two 20-minute
halves. At FIBA & ULEB games, are played four 10-minutes periods.
Personal Foul.
Physical contact between opposing players that may result in injury or
provide one team with an unfair advantage; players may not push, hold, trip, hack, elbow, restrain or charge into an opponent. Among the most common personal fouls are: blocking, charging, elbowing, hacking, and holding. Personal fouls are also
counted as team fouls. A player
is disqualified from the game after committing six fouls in the NBA, five fouls at others levels of
play.
