The backboard. n. v. A term that can either be used to describe a rebound or the act of rebounding (e.g. "he grabbed ten boards last night", "He's tough, he can really board").

Bonus Free Throw.

An extra free throw awarded after the opposing team has exceeded a certain limit or is over the limit. In the NBA, the limit is five personal fouls per period, at FIBA and ULEB the limit is four. After that, a personal foul results in two free throws for the opponent who was fouled. In college Basketball, the limit is seven fouls per half, after which the opposing team shoots one-and-one free throws. Also known as the penalty.

Bonus Situation.

A team is said to be in the bonus situation when it's entitled to bonus free throws.

A pass thrown by a player to a teammate that bounces on the floor. A pass can be bounced to a receiver with one or two hands. The most effective is the one-hand bounce pass preceded by a pivot action to open up the defenders space.

Box-and-Chaser.

A type of defense in which four players form a box, with two of them on each side of the free throw line, while the fifth is initially stationed near the top of the key and chases the ball as the opposition moves it around.

Box-and-One.

A defense in which four players form a box, with two of them on each side of the free throw line, and the fifth guards an opponent one-on-one.

Cuando un jugador pone su cuerpo entre el rival y el tablero para conseguir una mejor posición para la toma de rebotes.
